Pre-credit opener: Oh lord. Lucy is making yet another boring ass video for LD. As she turns on the camcorder Lucy thanks her for the great video she sent her. It must have been a really boring video of LD island adventures. Lucy tells her that she doesn’t have a date for the semi-formal. She says that she knows that she’s mouthy as hell and she wonders to the camera if any guys likes those qualities. Yeah, that’s not hot!
In the stairwell we see these two guys who we’ve never seen before talking about whether they’ll be going to the semi-formal or not. One of them says that they’re single and available. Lucy asks the twins to take plenty of pictures while they’re at the dance because all the guys she knows are taken already. Amy interrupts them and mentions how they can’t miss volleyball practice. Lucy all of a sudden runs into that guy who said he was single. Turns out his name is Dale and they’re instantly infatuated with each other.
Class is dismissed and right out of the gate Liz is telling Spike how sorry she is to hear that she and Patrick broke up. Spike says that she just didn’t have anytime to spend with him. But she then says that they didn’t have much to talk about. Liz goes to eat lunch in the quad and Patrick comes up to her and basically asks her out, just as friends to go see a friend of his who’s playing in some sort of shitty band. Liz says that she wants to but has to check on something first. Hey I just noticed that Liz actually has hair this year.
Outside in front of the entrance of the school Alexa comes up to Michelle and asks her if she wants to go out some time, just the two of them. Michelle tells her that she has Tuesday off and Alexa says while making a face, “Tuesday?” “Simon invited me over for dinner.” Michelle get’s pissed off and says, “Why did you bother asking, you clingy bitch.” And just storms off.
In the hallway Dale comes up to Lucy, gives her a flower and asks her out to the semi-formal. He says that he knows that he doesn’t really know her, but that would give them the chance. Lucy get’s all happy and accepts. She rushes up to the twins and tells them all about her date with him. Her joy is short lived because Cindy shows them a bulletin board that says that their volleyball practice is before class. This of course riles Lucy up because the boys basketball team is getting their time slot. So this means she’s going to make a big fucking deal about it.
In the library Liz comes up to Spike and tells her about Patrick wanting her to go see a band with him. Spike acts all nonchalant about it and says, “Liz if you wanna go, go.” “I broke up with him remember?” Liz asks her if she won’t be upset and Spike lies her ass off and says no. Stupid Liz believes her and tells her she has to go. Now that she’s gone Spike makes a pissed off face.
The girls come out of someone’s office and they’re bitching about the boys having their time slot because everyone is basically more interested in watching boys sports than girls. Cindy tells the girls that BLT told her that they’re getting new uniforms and equipment. Of course the twins and Lucy get even more pissed off saying that they don’t get jack shit. Heather says that they should go on strike, but Cindy correctly tells her that no one would notice because no one even knows that they have a girls volleyball team. Lucy comes up with a brilliant idea, but she doesn’t say what it is.
We then see the girls volleyball team in the gym setting up a net. Just then BLT and his crew come out and he asks them what the fuck do they think they’re doing. Lucy of course is the ringleader and tells him, “We’re protesting.” “How come you guys have new uniforms, new equipment and our gym time.” BLT tells them that it’s not their fault. Erica tells them that all the teams should be treated fairly. After that bullshit BLT tells them to take their stupid net down and get the fuck out. But Lucy tells him to fuck off and that it’s their gym time. BLT get’s sassy, snaps his fingers and says, “Not this year, Ladies!” The girls get all pissed off and Cindy says that she wants to talk to the captain. Turns out it’s Dale. Right away Lucy doesn’t say a goddamn thing and goes to hide in the back of the pack. Dale blows them off and he says, “No one cares about girls Volleyball.” And you know what? It’s true. After he antagonizes the girls some more, he tells the dudes to take down their stupid net.
We then hear Lucy telling LD all about the incident. She goes on to say that she knows that she has a big fucking mouth and needs to know when to shut it. Then she imagines LD’s reaction and rationalizes that she only kept shut because she wants him to like her and go to the semi-formal with Dale.
The next day at school Spike is dropping off Emma at daycare. Liz comes along and Spike asks her how her night was and Liz tells her that it was great. She just loves live music. Spike then asks her if he walked her home and Liz says, “Well you know Patrick.” Spike then get’s a really bitchy attitude and asks Liz if he kissed her goodnight. Liz finally picks up on her hostile ass and Spike tells her, “You weren’t supposed to believe me.” “You’re my best friend, you should be able to tell when I’m lying.” What an asshole. Liz tells her that best friends aren’t supposed to lie to each other. Spike then accuses her of dating Patrick. As she walks away Liz says, “You’re acting really stupid.”
At the other entrance of the school Simon is telling Alexa about going halves with BLT and getting a limo. Michelle passes by and Alexa says hi. But Michelle just ignores her. Alexa tells Simon that she misses her but you can tell he’s not even paying attention to her. He’s probably thinking, “I wonder if there’s beer on the sun?”
In some class room Lucy and the twins are talking about whether they should get Bronco to intervene for them. I think he’s class president or some shit like that. Lucy tells the twins that they should do it, but the twins tell her that it was Lucy’s big idea to fight this thing. She reluctantly agrees and tells Bronco if he has a minute. She tells them about how unfair all that is. He tells her that he doesn’t know what he can do about it. Lucy then kisses his ass to see if he can do anything.
Later on she’s telling the twins that he agreed to have them present their case with the student council that day. She says that if they can persuade them that they’re right, then Bronco’s going to talk to the principal. Lucy says that they need someone to speak their case and the twins say she should do it. But Lucy is pussying out.
Outside in the quad Patrick tries to hang out with Liz but she tells him that she doesn’t think it’s such a good idea because of Spike acting like an asshole. Patrick just says ok and walks away. But that’s not the end of it. He finds Spike at the library. She accuses of him getting with Liz just to get back at her. Patrick then lets her have it. He reminds her that he likes Liz and he doesn’t appreciate her meddling. She of course denies it, but she’s full of shit. He then reminds her that she’s the one who dumped him and basically doesn’t want her dictating who he can go out with. Before he leaves he tells her, “You may be a mother, but you’ve got a lot of growing up to do.” He nailed her with that one. Spike just growls at him in anger.
It’s finally time for the big meeting. Dale is walking in with BLT and we can over hear Dale telling him that it’s the loud mouth’s twins’s fault that all this bullshit is going on now. Cindy walks in and tells Lucy that she hates making speeches. Fat Nancy is trying to call the order for the meeting to start but no one’s listening. That is until Bronco tells everyone to shut the fuck up. It get’s all quiet all of a sudden and he gives this big goofy smile.
As the meeting begins they start to talk about the sports issue. Turns out Dale is representing the boys basketball team. Dale talks first and he says that the boys team deserves that time because they have a really good shot of winning the city championship. He then says that they need the new uniforms so that they can represent the school. He goes on to say that no one gives a mother fuck about girls sports. At that Lucy can’t stands no more. She just has to open her big opinionated mouth. She starts talking and says that the boys get all the attention already and who cares if they have a good chance at the championship. They’re in high school and not the pro leagues. She goes about a long winded speech about how it’s supposed to be all about participating and having fun. She goes on with her feminist bullshit. As she finishes Dale is just looking at her shaking his head, obviously pissed off at her.
Back in Lucy’s room, she’s continuing with telling LD all about the vote. Turns out that the student council sided with the girls volleyball team. With tears in her eyes she tells LD about Dale telling her how he can’t go to the dance with her because he has to go to an aunts house that night. Pretty obvious that her big mouth was a huge turn off for him. She really starts crying now and says, “LD, I really wanted to go to that stupid dance!” Man what a fucking downer this video is that Lucy is sending her. If the idea is for LD to slit her wrists then mission accomplished.
The next day at school Alexa makes another attempt into making up with Michelle. Alexa asks her if she’s still free on Tuesday that hopefully she can come over to her house. Michelle reminds her of her and Simon’s date. But Alexa says that he doesn’t own her. Shit she has that right. She totally owns him, those balls have belonged to her since the 8th grade. Anyways, Alexa says that she misses her and they both apologize and make up.
Bronco comes up to Lucy and tells her that he talked to the principle but he said that the principle told him he wants everyone behind the boys basketball team so the girls volleyball team is getting the shaft. Lucy leaves all disappointed, but Bronco tells her that she was great at the meeting. She says thanks and he wonders if she would be interested in going with him to the semi-formal. Lucy can’t believe her ears. Bronco tells her that he’s a real shitty dancer. Wait, what is it with all the black dudes on this show and having no rhythm? You’d think one of them would know how to dance really good. But anyways, Lucy accepts his invitation.
All in all, this was a pretty annoying episode. Lucy is a character where I can love her or hate her. She’s really annoying when she’s opinionated, which is about 90% of the time. But I think Bronco is the last stupid name that we’re going to get for the rest of the series. Unless by the end we get some new people with names like, Badger, Clydesdale, S.O.B and Needles.
